Curriculum Vitae (Deutsch / English)
Benedikt Burghardt, Dr. lib. art., was born in 1960 in Essen/ Germany.
He studied classical guitar at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen/ Germany and Buenos Aires/ Argentina, music theory, composition and conducting in Darmstadt and Buenos Aires, as well as pedagogy of music in Stuttgart. He received a DLA-Doctorate (s.c.l.) at the University of Music Ferenc Liszt in Budapest/ Hungary.
Since 1987 Burghardt works as a composer, conductor and music professor – initially based in Vienna/ Austria and since 2002 living in Hamburg/Germany.
He was professor for musical improvisation at the Konservatorium der Stadt Wien as well as professor for music theory and music history at the Hamburg School of Music.
The wide range of his compositions includes chamber music, Lied, choral and orchestral music, theatre-music as well as music for children and youth.
His works are performed regularly throughout the major European cities, inter alia at the ISCM World Music Days 2003 in Maribor/ Slovenija, the European Congress Musical Composition in Europe in the 21.century 2006 in Vienna/Austria, the International Festival Days of Macedonian Music 2013 in Skopje/Macedonia, the ISCM Worl New Music Days and WIEN MODERN 2013.
Since 1995 Burghardt has participated in national and international composition competitions and received recognition through numerous prizes and grants:
